A robot transferred singulated foil sheets from a stack and formed them using a custom thermal process, operating at 200 PPM. Forming included a linear bend between two surfaces, one planar and one curved.
Aspect Automation was the ideal partner for this client because of our expertise in forming seals over multiple surfaces simultaneously. New product design also required development of the heat-seal process as a proof-of-principle and testing through design-of-experiment prior to building the commercial equipment. Key technologies included custom-contoured sealing, closed-loop heater control, and multi-axis servo-controlled loading. Materials included foil composite and polypropylene.
System 2

This system processed two webs, cutting one into cards and forming pockets in the other. The pockets were filled with liquid, positioned by a vision-guided robot, and heat-sealed with the cards from the first web, operating at 1,200 PPM.
Aspect Automation's superior ability to collaborate with clients allowed us to develop the manufacturing system based on a unique combination of specifications. Key technologies included custom vision-guided robotics, a dual-hitch feed mechanism utilizing linear motors, multiple and simultaneous filling requirements, and the ability to work within the confines of an aseptic environment. Materials included Aclar, Kapton, foil, and a liquid fill.
System 3

Metalized foil was formed into blister packs containing multiple individual pockets. Pockets were filled and sealed utilizing heat and pressure. All critical-to-function elements were verified by an integrated vision system, and final processing involved die-punching, labeling, additional testing, and verification, operating at 48 PPM.
Aspect Automation's expertise with intermittent web processing and integrated vision systems was key to our partnership with this client, as were our high-speed punch capabilities and placement accuracy (within 0.005 inches). Materials included multilayer foil, dessicant beads, and PVC.
